Dr. Wei Xu, 1991年获得北京大学学士学位👩‍🏫，1994年获中科院生物物理所硕士学位🚵🏼‍♂️，1999年获美国爱荷华大学生物化学专业博士学位。1999-2005年在The Salk Institute做博士后研究👹，2005起任美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校肿瘤学系助理教授，2010年晋升为副教授，已在国际知名学术杂志如Nature🤕、Science、MCB、Cancer Res、J Biological Chemistry、Nature Cell Biology发表多篇学术论文。

报告内容简介：

The biological effects of estrogens are mediated by two estrogen receptors, ERalpha and ERbeta, which could form dimers (ERa/a homodimers, ERb/b homodimers and ERa/b heterodimers) upon ligand treatment and recruit co-factors for transcriptional regulation. Although ERa/a homodimers are known to mediate proliferative effects and ERb/b homodimers are anti-proliferative, the functions of ERa/b heterodimers are completely unknown. Dr. Wei Xu''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s lab developed a novel Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET) assays which could monitor ERa/b heterodimer formation in live cells. Furthermore, they identified ERa/b heterodimer-selective ligands and showed that the ERa/b heterodimer is growth inhibitory in cells co-expressing both forms of ER. This study suggests that ligand-induced ERb pairing with ERa could antagonize ERa''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s proliferative effects, leading to a novel design of treatment of breast cancer.
